Explore the History of Football
Manchester is one of the best locations within the UK for sporting venues. It is the location of two of the biggest football teams in the world – Manchester United and Manchester City, as well as being the home to British Cycling and Sport City (which was created for 2002 Commonwealth Games). It is also the host of the Great City Games and site of National Football Museum is now located.
The museum is spread over an impressive 6 floors. Students will be able to explore all things football as it was founded to preserve, conserve and interpret important collections of football memorabilia and is one of the largest dedicated football museums in the world.
You will also get a chance to visit either Manchester United or Manchester City to get a behind-the-scenes private tour of the stadium of choice, and participate in activities and workshops, provided by both clubs, that can be linked back to the sports curriculum in school.
There may even be a chance of a game of football against each other at a local football venue.
